Most of us have heard of Botox ® for cosmetic use, however, Botox ® has been found to be quite effective in the treatment of chronic pain. It can be administered by physicians to control chronic pain; allowing patients to live more comfortable, happier and healthier lives.
Botox ® relaxes the muscle or muscle groups, which are associated with chronic pain. It is especially beneficially in the treatment of migraine and migraine prevention and lasts approximately three months. The use of Botox ® therapy for migraines greatly reduces the frequency, severity and amount of medication required for each patient. Botox ® relaxes the muscles and interrupts the muscle contractions, which are responsible for sending erratic, nerve firing and blood vessel spasms characteristic of migraine headaches.
Botox ® is injected directly into specific trigger points and migraine sites. The treatment takes approximately 10-15 minutes and patients can return to work immediately after their treatment. Within 3-4 days after the procedure, patients will start to notice the difference. Their migraine symptoms become less severe while frequency of experiencing them decreases. These benefits last approximately 3 months.
The body’s first response to the damage of muscles, ligaments, and tendons is to deliver platelet cells. These cells initiate the healing process by attracting stem cells that are critical to repairing the body tissue. The PRP therapy intensifies the body’s effort by delivering a higher concentration of platelets. The therapy involves taking a small sample of the patient’s blood and placing it in a centrifuge that spins the blood at high speeds, separating the platelets from the other components. The PRP concentration of platelets is then injected into and around the point of injury, stimulating and significantly accelerating the body’s healing process. This process has no risk of transmissible infection and a very low risk of allergic reaction. The procedure takes approximately 1 to 2 hours, and typically given within a six-month time frame performed 2-3 weeks apart. Initial consultation and first pain therapy session offers an in-depth pain assessment that helps the clinician determine how best to treat the pain the client is experiencing, where the pain is located, and whether a combination of therapy services would be beneficial. The data collected will be computerized so that we not only monitor how the therapy sessions are progressing on a pre– and post-session basis but also how their pain level is changing over time. The consultation will take ten minutes. Every pain therapy session will include evaluations of pain levels, which will be added to the personalized file for follow-up purposes.
Mesotherapy and biopuncture are known as injection techniques used to treat pain with botanical substances, such as Traumeel, anesthetic drugs such as Lidocaine and Procaine, and vitamins. The therapy involves injecting these solutions into the skin layer that is rich in blood vessels and nerves just under the skin along pain zones. Mesotherapy involves pricking of the skin with a thin needle to stimulate healing of the injured area. Biopuncture is similar, except the solutions are injected into traditional acupuncture points where they stimulate the reflex responses of the immune and nervous systems to promote healing. Treatments are initially given weekly for up to six weeks and the frequency is reduced as symptoms improve. Depending on the duration of symptoms, some patients may experience significant improvement within a few treatments, while others with more chronic injuries may respond optimally after longer treatment courses. Mesotherapy and biopuncture can be effective in managing a variety of pain conditions, including chronic neck pain, whiplash, chronic back pain, sciatica, arthritis, muscle spasm, tendinitis, bursitis, tennis and golfer’s elbow, and fibromyalgia.

An epidural injection is the delivery of anti-inflammatory medicine directly into the epidural space, the outside of the sac of fluid around your spinal cord. This will reduce inflammation of the disc and nerve and will provide pain relief.
This procedure is performed for pain due to Shingles, medically known as Herpes Zoster. This acute viral infection causes inflammation of the nerves that spread outward from the spine. It involves a local anesthetic with anti-inflammatory medication injected between two ribs.
The Intercostal Nerve Block, may also be performed for pain caused from a surgical incision in the chest area or to help determine the cause of your pain, commonly referred to as a Diagnostic Nerve Block.
